After the widespread acclaim for their debut release with Jeremiah R, Organic Analogue returns to present its second release from Georgian producer HVL.

Since 2013, Gigi Jikia has released singles for Rough House Rosie and Housewax that deal in deeper strains of house and techno, combining punchy production and dubbed-out serenity in a finely balanced whole, and so it is on this release for OA.

Throughout Away From Everything We Know, the perfect balance is struck between a meditative state and playful electronic experimentation. Subtle touches of delay and reverb infect the background chords while dexterous basslines swerve out in front, fuelled by a hint of acid and moving fluidly.

The drums too fall with a delicate refinement as slithers of percussion move patiently around the beat grid, holding the more discernible grooves back for the moments that they really count.

For all its subtlety, Away From Everything We Know is an incredibly detailed work that deals in myriad layers of tone and pulse, no more evident than in the snaking step of “Cygnus Loop” with its staggered beat and sumptuous layers of melody.

To bring a fresh perspective on these regal tones, Gabriel Reyes-Whittaker takes a rare step into his The Reflektor guise to drop a plush remix of “Away From Everything We Know”. Perhaps better known for his Gifted & Blessed project, the LA-based artist only has one EP for Wild Oats under this name, and to mark the occasion he edges a boogie-inflected tone into the track without losing the dreamy haze of the original.

It brings a perfect balance to the second OA release, confirming the label as one that deals in electronic music concerned with moving forwards but never at the expense of the soul.

OA002 will be available as a limited edition of 400 x clear vinyl with hand screen printed artwork.
